Tootsie's Story...
Hey hey, my name is Tootsie and I'm what some folks may call a people puppy! I absolutely LOVE human companionship, and want to have a family of my very own to bond with. At eight months old I still have a ton of puppy energy, and am always excited to go outside on adventures. With Retriever and Labrador in my mix, I will probably be on the medium to large size when fully grown. I also would do great with some obedience or agility training. If you are looking for a loyal, loving friend to go on hikes with, explore new territories with, and (most importantly) have super snuggle fests with, I'm your gal!
Before making the trip to visit the shelter we strongly recommend checking our website for information on adoption policies and procedures. Please understand that because we are a busy place and because so many animals need our care and attention, adoptions are on a first come basis and no animal will be put on hold, we appreciate your understanding and look forward to your visit! To inquire about a pet's availability or for more information please PHONE the shelter (978-283-6055 ex 10 for reception desk) instead of sending emails.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tootsie, a Gloucester German Shepherd Dog/Retriever (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog/Retriever (Unknown Type) for sale in Gloucester, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog/Retriever (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Gloucester.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Gloucester already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Gloucester breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog/Retriever (Unknown Type) breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog/Retriever (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Gloucester paves the way for another one to be saved.
