My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Higgins is a handsome 1 y/o male who was turned into a local shelter by his owners. His crime was being a young beagle in need of training and attention. Higgins is slender at 27 pounds on a 15+ inch body. A few extra pounds would help keep him grounded in a wind storm. Those ears of his could make flying a definite possibility!

Higgins plays well with his foster pack of beagles and enjoys a good chase when a rabbit is spotted. He really enjoys having balls or squeaky toys thrown for him, but in typical beagle fashion, rarely brings them back! Higgins is housebroken with a dog door. He will sleep through the night, preferably on your bed, but he is not a bed hog. Training has gone slowly with this boy. He acts as if he has been mistreated for not doing commands correctly. He shys away from the strangest things. He will run from you, if you approach with a towel to dry him off! He is crate trained but hates being kenneled for long hours. He has the run of his foster home and has gotten into very few things. He does like to jumps up and pull things off the kitchen table, but he knows that some pretty good smelling things have sat on that table!

Higgins has a sweet and loving nature. He loves to be near you, but is not so needy that he is in your face all the time! This wonderful boy will flourish in a loving home that shows him attention and patience. He needs a family that is home most of the time. Kids and/ or a canine buddy would be a plus. Higgins does have motion sickness, so would not be a good travel buddy for long car trips. Please apply today to meet this fantastic boy!
