My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Grissom is a a fun, energetic, 8 month old Beagle boy! He currently weighs about 23 pounds, but he will likely put on a few more pounds as he fills out. Grissom was surrendered to the Passaic Animal Shelter by his owners because they said he barked too much. Lucky for Grissom a caring staff member contacted Safe Hounds Beagle Rescue hoping to get him into a breed rescue. Once here, we found that despite what his owners said, he’s not a noisy Beagle at all! Perhaps they simply didn't understand Beagles? Grissom is current on routine vaccinations, neutered, crate trained, and mircrochipped. He’s a friendly and playful young Beagle who gets along with other same-sized dogs and thus far seems comfortable with both men and women. We haven't observed his reaction to cats or young children as of yet. Grissom LOVES to go for walks where he can take in all the scents, nose-to-the-ground, in true Beagle style. He does well on a leash, for his age, and with a little more practice will be a well-mannered walking companion.

Grissom has only been in his foster home for a very short time so as we get to know him better, we will update this information Please check back often for updates.

Important: Grissom is not at a shelter where you can go to meet him. All Safe Hounds Beagles are cared for in a loving foster home. Prospective adopters MUST submit an adoption application and be pre-approved before meeting a dog. Submitting an application does not guarantee you will be approved. We do not accept applications for specific dogs. Once an application is approved, we’ll begin a matching process—the right dog for the right home. Please visit our web page: www.safehounds.com to learn more about the adoption process and to download our adoption application.

If you are unable to adopt at this time, please consider helping us so that we may continue to help them. We have dogs with medical needs and many hungry Beagles to feed. We are always in need of dog food and other items from our wish list as well as financial support to help us care for our dogs.
