MEET HOWIE -
Did you ever hope to be a superhero when you grew up, or at least know one? Well, meet the newest addition to our super puppy crew. HOWIE is named after one of our kind dachshund benefactors and this little guy is no less philanthropic. Although he came to us from a difficult situation, HOWIE is loving, gracious and well-bred. He is AKC (no papers), gets along well with other doggies at the shelter and his health and behavior are perfect. Folks around the shelter say he is the 'perfect pup.' HOWIE is a 24 week old, red long haired dachshund who is looking for a forever family to love him and cherish him throughout his life. Are you that loving, committed human family?
NOTE FROM ODR, INC: HOWIE is a wonderful puppy who will truly become the little super hero or your family. However, HOWIE does not get along well with cats and it would be best if he is part of a family that has older children.
OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
