Here's what the humans have to say about me:
6/17/14 Update: Last weekend, Peep's foster mom noticed that Peep seemed to have lost her sight in her remaining eye. She immediately took her into both our rescue vet as well as our ophthalmologist to help us determine the cause of her blindness. Peep was placed on a number of medications and we ran multiple tests but unfortunately, even with such an aggressive treatment plan, Peep's condition worsened over the course of the week. We took her back to the specialist yesterday and they diagnosed her with severe traumatic glaucoma, which had rapidly taken over her eye and was causing her extreme pain. Today, Peep went in for surgery and her other eye was removed. While we believe that the trauma that Peep endured prior to coming into the shelter caused her blindness, we are continuing to exhaust all measures to rule out various illnesses that could also be the cause. Peep has an incredible resilient spirit and we think her now double "wink" only makes her that much more special!
Original Bio: Peep is a 7lb. Maltese mix who was dropped off at a high kill shelter by her previous owners with her eye hanging from the socket. Even though Peep was in extreme pain when she arrived at Animal Control, she was so sweet and the medical staff fell in love with her and kept her safe until we could get her into foster. While we aren't sure how this sweet girl was injured, we are certain that her new "wink" makes her super adorable! Peep is only a year old but she isn't your everyday crazy puppy. She get along with dogs, large and small, and is learning to play but she really wants nothing more than to be with her person. Peep loves to be held and her favorite thing is to be cuddled. Her foster mom describes her as absolutely perfect! This sweet mannered girl is crate trained and working on her potty training skills, both pad and outside, which are coming along well.
