My name is Gretchen and I am a 6-year-old Dachshund. I arrived at the Centre with my best friend, Seamus and two other dogs who have already gone to their new homes. We were all adopted from Animatch over the years and our family loved us dearly. They were going through some serious changes in their lives and they had no choice but to give us up. I am good with other dogs, especially my brother, Seamus. We love each other unconditionally and we have always found a way – and still do – to hang out together. We don’t have to be adopted as a pair, but we sure would like it if we were. Dachshunds are loyal, loving and intelligent and I can prove it if you let me. I really enjoy going for long walks and my favourite pastime is chasing Seamus. Since Dachshunds are a very proud hunting breed, it would be best if my new home had a securely fenced yard. I have never lived with children but would be okay with older children who know how to treat a Dachshund properly. I do take the job of protecting my house and property seriously, and will bark to alert my family. Apartment or condo living would not be for me. I need a home where I am not alone all day, Dachshunds love their humans and do not like to be without them for too long. Love is what I have to offer and that’s all I ask in return.
