My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Marley was brought to a high-kill shelter by someone who said they found him roaming the streets. He had a microchip, but the chip was unregistered so the shelter was unable to locate his family. We went a step further and tracked down the chip manufacturer. They told us the chip was registered to a pet store. We contacted the pet store and they still had Marley's records.

Seems Marley is an AKC purebred Golden Retriever. He was born on 1/25/13 and sold on 3/31/13 when he was just 8 weeks old. We explained to the store how Marley was found on the streets and ended up at a high-kill shelter and how we had rescued him but figured somebody out there was looking for him. The store said they couldn't give us the owner's information, but they could contact them if we wanted. We asked them to please contact the family. We were sure they would be ecstatic to get the call that their dog had been found and was okay.

Turns out it was his "family" that brought Marley to the high-kill shelter and lied to them about finding him on the street. They didn't give the store a reason why they did it, but they made it clear they did not want him back. Marley is a beautiful, sweet dog. Why they would dump him at a high-kill shelter is something we will never understand, but we will make sure he finds a family that loves and appreciates him. Please help Marley find that family.

Marley’s issues: Strong on a leash, jumps up when excited, puppyish (lots of energy), needs to be taught basic training. Marley needs a strong handler and someone willing to put time into training him. Once trained, he will be a gem.

Marley’s day to day personality: Marley LOVES other dogs. He enjoys running and playing. He loves to fetch and enjoys toy time. He likes the outdoors. He has a happy go lucky personality and is always “smiling”. He is just like a big puppy. He is housebroken, and eats well. He doesn’t like chew bones, but loves cookies. His foster friend is Pepsi on the website (A big Senior Rottie Girl). They love to play together and run together.
