Trooper's Story...
AVAILABLE 05-12-14 Trooper was found roaming the roads of Weeksville and brought to the Shelter as a stray. He was missing a bit of fur from his back - maybe where he had rubbed it against something, but it's growing back really well? Trooper is such a laid back, serious dog. He's pretty much American Staffordshire Terrier with his short legs and broad chest - really a good looking guy. Trooper is also very loving - likes to take leash walks and be petted. He's been in a cage in the office for awhile now and has done really well - seems to let you know when he needs to go out. He tested negative for heart worms, so is now on preventative, his shots are also now up to date. When you come to the Shelter make sure you ask to meet Trooper, since he's in the office, you might miss seeing him and that would be your loss.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Trooper, a Elizabeth City American Water Spaniel dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Water Spaniel for sale in Elizabeth City, or seeking a American Water Spaniel dog from a breeder in Elizabeth City.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Elizabeth City already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Elizabeth City breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Water Spaniel breeders who help with American Water Spaniel rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Elizabeth City paves the way for another one to be saved.
