My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Ralphie and I am 3 years old. I was sick and in pain when I was brought to the shelter. My hair was falling out and my skin was smelly and scabby. I waited for days for my owner to come take me home. Each day was misery without any relief from my sore skin. When my five days were up and it was evident, my family was not coming for me; a new card was placed on the outside of my cage. I asked the little guy in the cage across from me; what my card said. He leaned into the bars and hollered out the letters P.T.S. I repeated aloud, P.T.S. and with a puzzled look on my face, I asked what does that mean? Another one, two cages down from me yelled out “PUT TO SLEEP”. I still didn’t understand, huh? Then the beagle next to me hung her head down low and whispered to me, “I’m sorry, but it means that they are going to stick a needle in your arm and after that; well, you will never wake up. You’ll be dead”. My heart sank to the bottom of my chest. It was hard to breathe, I felt like the room was closing in on me. The lump in my throat made it hard to swallow. I broke down and cried hard. Before long, I couldn’t hear myself anymore. The whimpers and howls from those around me amplified the room. Everyone felt my heartache. Overwhelmed by their sympathy for me, I felt loved for the first time. Exhausted, I lay down and prayed myself to sleep. I awoke to someone opening my cage door. As I walked down the hall, passing each cage, I could see the sadness for me in their eyes. I couldn’t help but say a prayer for each and every one of them. When we got to the end of the hall, we went into a room. A woman was standing in front of me. The woman picked me up and smiled, she told me that God has other plans for me. We left the building and she placed me next to her in the car. She told me that she has a circle of friends that are searching high and far to find the perfect home where I could be a star. She caressed my head softly and told me that I was safe. I was so thankful, my heart was smiling from the inside; I could feel it. Since being with my foster family I have learned a lot about myself and the world. My foster parents tell me every day, that I am a smart little boy, who learns quickly. I’ve heard my foster mom tell her friends that I am a little gentleman and that I am well behaved and soft spoken. My foster mom told me that I am ready for a family of my own and that I’ve learned everything I needed to know. I’m over joyed by the thought of having a family to call my own someday. So, I wrote down a few things you should know about me: my favorite things to do are playing with my canine and feline siblings, going for walks and cuddling up to my foster mom and dad. I’m a simple old fashioned boy, who believes in love and family. So, if you feel the same, go to www.foreverhome4dogsrescue.com to fill out an adoption application.
