Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Name: Mike
Sex: Male
Breed: Standard Poodle
Age: Baby
Date of Birth: 12/15/2013
Level of blindness: No eye issues
Cause of eye issues: None.
General health: My vet determined that Mike is not blind but has cerebellar hypoplasia. This means that Mike's brain is underdeveloped which results in his awkward gait.
Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Other (has not been around cats)
Good with kids: Other (have not seen Mike with kids but doubt there would be a problem)
Currently being fostered in: Hobart, NY
*BDRA will transport the dog a reasonable distance, to an approved adopter, at no extra cost, even if out of state.
Information:
Mike was turned into BDRA by his breeder as a blind dog. A vet visit determined he was not blind but has cerebellar hypoplasia. His brain is underdeveloped so it can not make the connection between what it sees and his movement. This has not slowed him down!
He loves to play in the yard and play chase with the other dogs. Mike quickly learned to come up the deck stairs although he is still tentative going down the stairs.
Mike is a very happy boy who doesn't know he is different.
