Smokey's Story...
SMOKEY is that most wonderful of teddy bears who is really a cat. A 1-year-old neutered male tuxedo with a most unusual coat of black-tipped fur shading to light gray at the roots. Smokey loves to perch on your lap, and garners attention by tapping your arm or stepping onto your shoulder from the back of a chair. He is a cheeky fellow who will show how much he loves you by a playful but gentle love-bite — just in case you weren’t sure who owned whom.

Smokey has always lived around other cats and gets along well with them. He is a playfully mischievous youngster and will sort through all his toys on a daily basis. He knows how to unlatch a cage door, though he is still trying to figure out the fridge thing and is all thumbs with pop-top lids. So he knows he needs you.

For all his people-oriented behavior, he can be a little shy initially, but warms up fairly quickly. He would do best in a home without small children under the age of 8, on account of his love bites. Otherwise, he will make a super family pet.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Smokey, a Bedford Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Bedford, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Bedford.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Bedford already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Bedford breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Bedford paves the way for another one to be saved.
