My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kip is such a wonderful easy going dog who deserves the best home and best people possible. He is so happy-go-lucky and is always friendly. We hope he finds a home with a similar environment, with happy, easygoing people. Kip is an adult dog approximately 6 - 8 years old and currently weighs just under 50 lbs.

Here is what else his foster family had to say:

Kip is such a sweet boy. His happiness is unwavering as is his desire to look for any generous human willing to give him table scraps (typical of the beagle breed). His tail and chubby bum are always wagging and shaking. He is always hoping for pets, cuddles, and food.

He knows his basic commands and is pretty good at listening. Kip can sit and sit pretty! He is not tall enough to counter surf but given an opportunity I am sure he would try. He is fully house trained. We have not used a crate for Kip as he doesn't seem to need it. Kip is as leash trained as any other beagle. (follow the nose!). He will try to use his big block head to try and hold the door open, something we've been discouraging. Kip is great in the car. He's a wonderful navigator and may sometimes turn on your radio or AC for you. His taste in music leaves something to be desired.

Kip has a ton of quirky traits including and playing fetch by himself. He puts his squeeky ball on a slanted surface and balances it ever so carefully before snatching it up with the proudest look on his beagly face. He is a very low-key, low maintenance dog and would love nothing more than a couch or your bed and his own humans to cuddle with. He does seem to prefer the presence of his people and another dog and would much rather sleep in a comfy human bed at night then on his own--although his sweet demeanor and big brown eyes make it difficult to say no to letting him on the bed.

He is the most patient dog we've had the fortune to come across and doesn't seem to mind anything from being trampled by energetic puppies to being mounted by other dogs. He is curious about cats but quickly learns not to sniff to closely if the kitty prefers his/her own space. He allows his humans to be the alphas and doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body.

He loves car rides and could use a little work walking on leash, but anyone looking for a hound should expect this. He does enjoy walks and circles by the door when we get his leash. He could also use frequent and at the moment short 30 min walks as he seems to have put on some winter weight for a number of winters. Kip is a handsome gentleman and any family would be very lucky to have him.

A house (not an apartment) with another middle-sized dog would be best. A mid energy dog with happy easygoing people would be great.

If you think Kip would be a good fit for your family, please submit an application for consideration.
