My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great Texas rescuer in saving Otto and his 2 siblings...she could see that all their temperaments were so kind and calm that she couldn't allow any of them to be euthanized. Otto is the kind of very endearing puppy that will lie in your arms and give a periodic loving kiss... couldn't be more loving. Otto was immediately brought to be vetted and then brought to a great Houston foster home to receive pure love and begin his education. It turns out that Otto, at only 8 weeks old and about 10 lbs. (expected by the vet to be approximately 40 to 50 lbs. when full-grown) is very calm and so very sweet that it's become a fun and rewarding experience for his foster mom. Otto is like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around him..he's incredibly entertaining when he gets going. If he continues this regimen of socialization that promotes positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans...Otto will become a well-adjusted and pleasant adult companion. Otto is an adorable Standard Schnauzer/Terrier mix puppy with a shining coat that speaks of good health - sorry about the sad shelter photo. We'll follow up with happier, puppy-adorable photos as soon as we receive them. Otto's calm and sweet demeanor is just who he is...he just appears to be more analytical than your average crazy puppy. If Otto is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, he will become a well-adjusted dog who respects his people as his leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for Otto. We also feel it's very important that Otto is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. He would be overjoyed with hiking along Colorado paths and enjoying the sunshine. We'd like a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities. Otto can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community and can therefore accompany his family just about anywhere. We can't determine at this point if Otto is a shedder...since he's a combination of a shedding and a non-shedding breed..it will be determined later which gene he picked up. Lots of sudsy baths and serious brushing combined with great nutrition will keep this puppy's coat healthy, silky-soft and as shed-free as possible.

Otto will be arriving on transport in Denver on 6/13. Applications are currently being accepted for this adorable and lovable puppy.
