My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DUKE is a 4 year old chocolate neutered male who weighs 52 pounds. He's a love, he is very friendly and loves people and other dogs. He thinks his place is in my lap giving me kisses and beating me with his wagging tail. He came into Lab Rescue with serious health problems and has been steadily recovering. Duke is Heartworm positive and he will have to take it easy until after his Heartworm treatment is completed (LabRescue will pay for treatment if performed at one of our vets.) He is good with other dogs, crate trained, keeping his room clean so may be house trained. Duke comes from the country and may not do well in an apartment/condo or city environment. He is approved for kids aged 10+.

Update (7/09): Duke is a real snuggle-bug and loves to be with his humans. He has a great lab lean and will get in your lap if given the opportunity. When you stop petting him, he will "give you the paw" and ask for more. He enjoys stuffed animals, especially his green dragon which he will toss in the air and then shake. He walks well on leash. He eats well and has a soft mouth when taking his treats. While he will give a short bark when someone new comes to the door, he treats visitors part of the family. He settles down very nicely at night.

Update (7/07): Duke is very friendly, and he likes attention. He also enjoys toys. He is VERY affectionate. He will put a paw in your lap if you stop petting him. He will sit in your lap so it is easier to pet him. He's curious and adorable. He knows the sit command. He is good on leash.

Update (7/06): Duke is happy hanging out with his new foster. He loves getting loved and is a very well-behaved boy. He knows several commands and is good at listening. Now all he wants is a forever home where he can love his family and his family can dote upon him!

Update (6/23): Duke is a smart, loveable, and handsome. He likes treats, and being petted. He will lean into you to get scratches in the right places. He is crate trained and does not bark while in there. He will sit for his food- sometimes without being asked. He is an eager eater and loves his treat ball. When the ball is rolled around, more food comes out! He will come when called. He has gotten up on the couch a couple of times to be near my people.

Update (6/17): Duke is a super cool dude who is settling into the nice life now. He could stand to gain some weight, but no biggie for him since he LOVES food! He knows some commands but is particularly good at sit. He's also a pretty decent bath taker and seems to enjoy the water. Duke likes to be scratched on his chest, his neck, and by his tail. Very sweet boy!
