My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our regal Baroness is just the kind of Grand Alpha Diva Eskie that steals our hearts. Six years old, she has joined us from a rural Animal Control shelter, where her owner abandoned her to the unsettling rescue process.

Baroness seemed no worse for wear, and her bright, larger than life personality exudes a confidence that has helped her weather the process well. She has adapted beautifully to foster care and has proven herself to be a loving, spirited companion, who can navigate the particulars of an exacting dog pack.

Baroness is a typical Eskie, with that beloved busybody quality that seasoned Eskie Lovers appreciate. Baroness loves to be the center of attention, and will go to great lengths to keep all eyes on her. She reminds us of Mayberry's kindly Aunt Bee, as she darts in and out of the dog pack, giving unsolicited advice and opinion, which sometimes falls on deaf dog ears.

Baroness is a pretty girl. At 40 pounds, she is slightly overweight for her Standard Eskie frame. She should continue on a weight loss regime, and then maintain her ideal weight of 30 to 32 pounds, through healthy grain free kibble, rich in nutrients, quality protein and omega fats.

Exercise should also be part of Baroness' new lifestyle. Eskies are a high energy breed, and if diet and exercise are properly tended to, they can live long, healthy lives, with great quality of life, well up to 15 plus years old. Baroness loves her daily walks, and one to two brisk leash walks a day should channel her energy nicely.

Baroness would be a great addition to an active adult home, or family with older children, who love the Eskie energy and quirks. Baroness has a wee bit of the stranger danger vibe, but quiets down and warms up quickly, once she gets comfortable. She likes other dogs, and is amiable enough to coexist nicely with cats.

Baroness has excellent house manners and is house trained. She rides well in the car and is well mannered enough to travel anywhere. She is a quick study, and seems to enjoy her obedience ritual. Baroness responds well to positive reinforcement and leadership training techniques.

Baroness is spayed, and is up to date on routine shots. She has tested negative for heartworm, Lyme, Earlichia and Anaplasmosis. If you are interested in Baronness, please call Denise at 720-903-0636 or write to denise@eskiesonline.com for more info.
