MEET SOPHIE -
Did you know that Sophie means wisdom? Our Beautiful new addition is SOPHIE, a 4.5 year old 12.5 lb dapple piebald, so named because is as wise as she is lovely and graceful. Another very graceful lady, Ms. Audrey Hepburn once said that to have Beautiful eyes, we should look for the good in others...Our SOPHIE has beautiful eyes that share wisdom beyond her years; to have Beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness. Well, though she doesn't speak human language, SOPHIE is very kind and every second that she is with us at Oregon Dachshund Rescue, INC., we love her more and learn something from her. Finally, for Poise, one should walk with the knowledge that you are never alone. SOPHIE is so lovely, we know she won't be with us for long. She is AKC (no papers) and like most doxies, SOPHIE loves to walk on a leash, play outside and be in the lap of her human family members. She enjoys car rides and baths. This lovely little SOPHIE even likes children, cats and other dogs. Are you a beautiful, kind, poised human looking for a beautiful, kind and wise dachshund to love forever? If so, perhaps you and SOPHIE should meet.
OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
