ADOPTED ON 07-07-14 - Ally is a small girl but full of love! She watches you very closely and always come over for a reassuring hug. She is extremely sweet and loves kids. She loves sleeping on someone. She has been learning the crate and has been receptive to potty training. She gets along well with her siblings and kids love her!

Through no fault of their own, dogs in the south are left by the road to make it on their own, over and over again. Ally and her 9 siblings were victims of being born in a place where there are many dogs and no solutions. Ally’s story is heartfelt, she was found by a stranger who could not take care of the pups herself but stopped anyways and got them to someone who could. The remarkable people who make rescue achievable could not walk away from Ally and her 9 siblings even though she had 10 dogs herself—now she has 20. We can’t ever envision having 20 dogs in our own home, nerveless, puppies but a rescuer’s spirit is pure and giving.

Puppies come into this world with a clean slate. Ally’s life is full of play, good food, afternoon naps in the sun and kisses daily from her rescuer that examines every spot on her. Ally is in a northern foster home and we will begin to know who what she is like soon. However, Labs are healthy dogs and generally will live long lives of 10 to 14 years and are one of the most popular breeds in the USA because they are loyal, loving, affectionate and patient, making great family dogs. They are highly intelligent, good-natured, very willing and eager to please; they are among the top choices for service dog work. They love to play, especially in water, never wanting to pass up the opportunity for a good swim.

These lively dogs have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human leadership and need to feel as though they are part of the family and are easily trained. This breed of dog is wonderful with people of all ages, interact well with children.

Ally is in excellent health, ready to leap into your heart and go to her FUR-ever home. If you are the type that want to make a difference this year to a deserving dog in need, Ally will thank you every day and fill your life with laughter and licks. Our adopters are the most wonderful people who stand to be the last chapter of their rescue story, and the first chapter of their new forever lives!

PUPPIES BEHAVIOR, GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT
Each stage of Puppy Growth and development is fascinating; by the time it reaches its first birthday a puppy is considered a mature, adult dog. Puppy Growth rate is fast compared to humans, just compare a puppy of 8 weeks to a baby of the same age.

One of the most common questions asked about a puppy’s growth and development rate refers to the eventual size of the puppy. How big will the puppy grow? How can you determine the adult size of a puppy? A young puppy is tiny and cute - everyone loves puppies! But will the puppy be suited to your environment? How much exercise will be required for a full grown dog? Will the puppy be a suitable pet for children? The breed of the puppy will determine the answers to these questions. A general response to the size and growth rate of a puppy and the adult size of a puppy is therefore not possible - it needs to be specific to the puppy’s breed.

3 to 7 Weeks Old

  • Weaned between the ages of 3 and 7 weeks
  • During the ages of 3 to 7 weeks its first teeth, or milk teeth will appear
  • Taught basic behavior disciplines from its mother
  • Develop by socializing with other dogs and animals and people
  • Will stand up and start walking
  • At the age of 3 weeks a puppy will develop its sense of smell
  • At 3 weeks the puppy will begin to bark and show social development such as
wagging its tail, growling and baring its teeth
  • Up to the age of 4 weeks the mother will be with the puppy almost constantly
  • The puppy has good use of its legs and is able to chase
  • Between 4 and 5 weeks the mother will gradually spend time away from her puppies
  • Rapid growth and development rate at this stage
  • Interaction with litter mates leading to Order of Dominance
  • After weaning puppies need to receive a series of vaccines in order to develop immunity
on their own. Vaccinations for puppies generally include distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis,
parainfluenza, parvovirus, rabies, and sometimes Bordetella

7 to12 weeks

  • Puppies are usually found new homes at this age it starts focusing attention on its
    owner rather than other puppies
  • The first fear period of the puppy begins
  • A puppy starts to learn it name but still has a short attention span
  • The puppy will start house training
  • At first, the puppy should be fed four times a day. (Feedings should be reduced to twice a
day by the time a puppy is mature or even once a day in the case of a dog that gets little exercise)
  • The puppies motor skills improve
  • The puppy will use its basic instincts to naturally explore its new environment and the
    different things within it
  • Puppies will still sleep a lot and grow as they are sleeping. During times of stress, a dog
raises its hackles - the hair along the neck and spine
  • Puppy training must begin and pups need to be made aware of your rules

12 to 16 weeks

  • The first of the permanent teeth will work through
  • Ensure the puppy has plenty of attention and toys to play with
  • At this age a puppy might demonstrate Pack Leader Behavior and test who is the Boss.
A puppy will challenge your authority
  • Puppy Growth and Development & Behavior between 4 and 8 months
  • The adult teeth continue to come through and during this time puppies need to chew! The
incisors and the canines are very important because the dog bites and tears at its food with
    these teeth
  • Provide them with items to chew
  • The confidence of the puppy will now have grown as would its physical size
  • The puppy will be showing interest in chasing other Puppies at this age and starts to
    become independent

8 months to 1 year

  • Feeding frequency should be considered - reduce to 2 or 3 meals per day
  • Some dogs reach sexual maturity at the age of eight months
  • The puppy is old enough to start Obedience Classes or a professional training program
  • The puppy would have grown to approximately half to three quarters the size of and adult
  • Female dogs would have probably reached their eventually height but will to continue to'fill out'

12 months old

  • Puppies are now considered to have finished their development and growth rate and are
    viewed as adult dogs.
  • Although sexually mature beforehand, a dog usually does not attain full growth until at least
    its first birthday.

About Our Rescue

These dogs deserve all of our attention, and in Rescue Dog Village, we are committed to our adopters and our dogs equally. We offer full disclosure and hope to make the best matches possible. Please know our adoption fees never cover our expenses. We rely on the generosity of our adopters and supporters to help us help the dogs.

Our rescue is ONLY in the business of offering FULL DISCLOSURE to adopters, and expects and hopes to engage your questions and concerns fully. We owe it to the dogs we rescue and all the wonderful families/adopters who might consider welcoming our charges into their hearts and home. Our dogs are waiting for that ideal forever home where they will be cherished as deserving family members. It's sad these second chances are even necessary for these dogs, but we are committed to them and will devote the time and energy to their rehoming, and not just MOVE them to save more dogs. We diligently and responsibly seek good matches as we don't want to re-home the dog again. These animals have already endured more than they should have, and through no fault of their own. It behooves us to be honest and forthright, and we appreciate the same in return from applicants. It's that winning combination of reciprocal trust and respect that allows for successful placements to be made. Happy adopters translate to happy dogs, and that's our goal!

Our rescue volunteers will be more than honored to be in touch with you directly and promptly, after receiving your application and conducting a mandatory a veterinarian check. If you have never owned a dog before, please submit your application regardless, and we will be in touch with you as soon as possible. TAKE NOTE YOU SHOULD CHECK YOUR SPAM AS SOME RESPONSES FROM US WIND UP THERE WE'VE DISCOVERED. Also, take care to contact your veterinarian to let them know a member of rescue will be inquiring about your pet history!

Thank you for respecting that we all donate our time to saving these animals, and understand we value your philanthropic and compassionate desire to help be part of the rescue team. That said, you'll understand why we are committed to the well-being of our charges and consider this veterinarian check mandatory. If you are a first-time dog owner, we will work with you every step of the way! ADVOCACY AND EDUCATION ARE AS MUCH A PART OF RESPONSIBLE RESCUE AS ADOPTION! And it takes a RESCUE VILLAGE to help the most dogs possible in a thorough manner to ensure success on all fronts, and then some! It is an awful feeling to fail a dog, and we can't continue rescue if we don't do everything we can to ensure good matches for the dogs and tender families who might adopt them. THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING.

Although we are an extremely small rescue group, we understand and respect your family's eagerness to be in touch and learn as much as you can about the dogs you are considering adopting. Our very experienced and devoted trainer will be happy to share all aspects of OUR RESCUE DOGS to determine compatibility once you've submitted your application, and another of our volunteers will explain the whole process of our rescue and answer any questions you might have as well

If you have the time and love to offer this extremely bright dog who can make you laugh for hours at his antics, PLEASE APPLY TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A RESCUE DOG VILLAGE DOG AND GIVE ONE A HOME. Our dogs deserve all that a committed family can offer. Make no mistake about it, this is one spectacular dog!

Please contact RescueDogVillage@yahoo.com and we will be happy to return your correspondence, but please submit the application now so we can have that information as a starting base for our dialogue.

THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING RESCUE AS A MEANS OF WELCOMING YOUR NEXT FOUR-LEGGED FRIEND INTO YOUR LIFE!

ALL interested adopters MUST complete an application; agree to a vet reference check, phone interview and home visit. ALL family members MUST be in attendance for home visits - no exceptions. This helps us get to know everyone in the family so that we can help find the right dog for you.
