My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This little boy is a real darling. He is friendly with everyone, eager to please and easy to care for. He is a lap dog but also loves to play, go for walks and has enough energy to keep up with children. He is fine with other dogs and would be okay for dog savvy cats as he wants to play with everyone. Bruiser has a very sweet personality and will be an adorable pet for anyone. He is approximately 2 years old and currently weighs just over 10 lbs.

Bruiser is a spunky little guy who really just wants to play and hang out with his people. He is a small dog but energetic and playful enough to handle children, long walks, and would probably even like a jogging partner. Bruiser is active in the home being a small dog, and although he does need regular exercise it does not take a lot to settle him down. Bruiser has short hair that doesn’t shed much at all - easy to care for coat.

He has liked everyone he has met so far. And loves to lick the faces of children. He loves to play with other dogs and would need an outgoing friendly and playful dog like himself or would be good as the only dog in the home with children who would like to play with him. He is a bit shy when you try to pick him up or put a leash on him but this passes quickly as he sees you mean no harm. He wants to play with our cats as well but they put a stop to that pretty quickly.

Bruiser barks for a minute when crated and left alone but settles down quickly. He loves to play with toys and will even toss them up in the air so he can catch them. He also fetches...but is still learning to drop it when he brings it back. He will definitely be happiest with a variety of different toys to keep him busy. Bruiser barks when excited but is usually very quiet.

Bruiser is a young dog and didn't really know any basic commands when he came to us. He is very good motivated and this is helping him to learn quickly. We have been working on house training, crate training walking nicely on leash and basic manners and he is coming along nicely. He will need someone that will continue with keeping him on a good routine and have patience and give lots of positive reinforcement. He is a very smart little dog and is very eager to please making him easy to train as well.

Bruiser would be great with any family who will give him lots of love. He would be happy as the only dog or with a friend to play with. He would be good with a retired person who loves to walk or with a family with kids to throw the ball for him. He is smart and energetic and would benefit greatly with some obedience training and although he is small he would probably love to try out agility. Although he loves to play it doesn’t take much and he will be ready for a snuggle on the couch where he likes to curl into a little ball under a blanket with you. Bruiser likes to be with his people and sleeps in our room. He starts out in a dog bed on the floor but is usually curled up by my feet when I wake up. When it’s time to get out of bed he runs into all the rooms and kisses everyone so they know it’s time to get up and start their day.

Bruiser would do well in any type of situation. He is very adaptable and easy to care for.

If you would like to make Bruiser part of your family, please submit an application for consideration.
