6 OCTOBER 2014: Kahlo still appears shy around any strangers but he does love company once his trust is earned. He used to hide under tables in our house and he's come a long way. He is not scared around our kids and no longer hides from us. He is very friendly towards my dog, in the beginning he ignored her but now he initiates play with her. He is also not afraid to approach us when he wants attention. To help him along we take him out with us as much as possible. Kids at the bus stop like him. He may initially try to run from them but they pet him and he let's them. He knows "kennel up" and just started to consistently do "sit" command. He also knows "no" and "drop it." He is going to be a mild mannered loving companion with good eye contact for someone who can be patient and understanding the first few weeks.
UPDATE – 30 AUGUST 2014: We have really enjoyed Kahlo. It took a couple weeks for him to feel at home, but there are many great things about him. He is playful, always wagging his tail, even when he was shy. It may take a short while for him to be comfortable with strangers (all women, men, children), but then he is a great companion.
He follows me around all the time, and he’s crate-trained and house-trained with consistent walks around 4 times a day. He is great with my kids, ages 5 and 8. He plays with my dog, a female beagle mix. He is a medium energy dog and enjoys being with people very much. He is upbeat about life, despite all he’s been through. Kahlo is a unique red color with hazel eyes – he’s gorgeous!
Kahlo is a small, beagle mix boy that is 2 years old. He’s friendly, playful, and good with other dogs but can be a little submissive with people. He and Henry were owner give-ups in Amelia County, Virginia, but no other history is known.
