My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sometimes the hardest thing a person can face is the realization that they must let go of someone they love, because it is unfair to hold onto them any longer. This is true between people and just as true between people and their dogs.
You see this in death, where someone has to make the painful decision to allow their pet to pass away with dignity, rather than hold onto them any longer in their suffering.
You see it in life, when you realize that, despite your best efforts and intentions, you are preventing your dog from fully enjoying and experiencing the richness of life and being all he can be.

This unfortunately, is the case with Webster.

He was adopted out last Summer, so full of fear and timidity that he could barely move. But, his nature and personality have since re-awakened and he has blossomed into an awesome boy. His boundless energy, exteme intelligence, zest for life and desire to please are a joy to be around. However, his previous care taker felt that to hold onto him any longer would be to hold him back.

He's a Springer Spaniel possibly mixed with Border Collie. His energy, endurance and herding instincts lead his previous care taker to that conclusion. Those breed characteristics are also why his care taker felt he could not offer him an environment best suited for him.

He needs a much larger yard to run, play and explore.

He needs someone to keep him engaged with activity. We believe he'd thrive with agility training and competition.

He would really enjoy having a job to do. He has a strong herding instinct which, unfortunately, was detrimental to him bonding with the other dogs in the home.

Some details:

--He's about 1-1/2 years old, neutered, micro-chipped and current on all vaccinations.

--He gets along with other dogs but, would probably be better with dogs his size (30-35 pounds) and activity level.

--He's curious about cats but, doesn't show any aggression towards them.

--He's not destructive and hasn't had any accidents in the house.

--He's still a bit timid around new people but, warms up to them once he gets to know them.

--He knows commands like sit, come, down, quiet.

--He is not crate-trained, nor do I think he'd ever get used to that kind of confinement.

--He is extremely affectionate, has a genuine desire to please and enjoys the company of those who love him.
