6-2016 -- Buddy George is still here. We don't know why someone hasn't scooped up this cutie! A few of his buddies have come and go so now he spends most of his time with 16 yr old Fred the Basset Hound. He is now almost 13 and loves it here at the Sanctuary but would love a home of his own even more. He really enjoys the freedom of going outside and laying in the sun whenever he wants but will sack out on the couch, too. Have lots of treats on hand as this guy LOVES his biscuits!

8-2014 -- Buddy George arrived just a few weeks ago and is doing great. He is 11 yrs old but has plenty of energy. He is spending most of his time with Bailey the Chi/Doxie mix. He loves to play ball and play with his stuffed dog and rope toy. He runs like a show dog does with his head up. He looks so proud and is having the time of his life. He is very alert and will bark if someone pulls up in the driveway. He is a good kisser and loves to be petted. He also will lay quietly next to you and enjoy your company. He would do best in a quiet house that has a very secure yard for him to run around in. He would make such a wonderful companion. Won't you give him the 2nd chance he is waiting for?

About Mureille's Place - A Senior Dog Sanctuary

About Our Rescue Group...

Mureille’s Place is a small home-based 501c3 rescue. We are a cage-free no-kill facility that provides a safe haven for unwanted senior dogs until they can be adopted into a forever home or if unadoptable, live out their remaining days with love, dignity and respect. The sanctuary is located on 7 wooded acres that include several walking trails that the dogs enjoy year round. We are very proud that we are an all volunteer rescue and do not have any paid staff or board members and that all tax deductible donations go to the rescue operation.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Visits to the shelter are by appointment only. Please call Barbara at 570-579-8172 to arrange.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process includes a pre-adoption interview to determine the type of home you will provide and will aid us in finding the right dog for you. We prefer that the dog do a “weekend” visit or longer before adopting to ensure that both the adopter and the dog are sure that it is a good match. There is an application to be filled out, a home visit and adoption donation typically from $50 - $150 (non-refundable). All dogs are spayed or neutered and are up to date on all shots.

We have also launched our "Seniors for Seniors" program where we do not charge a fee at all to qualifying senior citizens who adopt one of our seniors.

We are also working on a program that would allow a senior to adopt one of our seniors and we would take care of food, vet visits etc and be a place for the dog to come back to if the adopter had health issues and needed to be hospitalized or worse, passed away and there were no family members to take the dog in. This would greatly benefit seniors on a fixed income who want to own a dog but can't provide for them or are afraid that they will not outlive the dog. We are searching for funding for this program and will launch it as soon as that funding is found.
