My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog has been in THE RED DOG PROJECT, a prison rehabilitation program managed by Dog Days Adoption Events, Inc. The program is usually four weeks of fostering with inmate handlers and learning the basics of all around good behavior, potty training and interacting with other dogs.

PLEASE Fill in the application if you're interested in adoption, this will save you time at the event. If you would like to begin the application process, please fill in the form at the link below and we will review your information, call your personal as well as vet references. We hope you will understand the careful scrutiny of potential adopters is not only for the safety and well-being of the dog but also for a positive experience for your household.

APPLICATION FORM: https://redletterbusiness.wufoo.com/forms/find-my-new-best-friend-the-red-dog-project/ (Copy and paste to browser.)

• A letter from your vet on their letterhead will also be very helpful if they won't be open for us to call as a reference.

• If you are renting, please note you must have a written letter of permission from your landlord to own a dog on their property.

• Red Dog Project volunteers will be conducting interviews of prospective adopters either on the phone or at the weekend event. As a policy, dogs are adopted to the best home, not the first application.

• If you have never owned a dog and therefore do not have a vet reference let us know right away and we'll try to do a home visit before the adoption. First time adopters need a quick home visit to make sure they are ready to take a dog home for the first time.

Thank you for saving the life of a shelter dog through adoption; you are truly a hero.

Here is more information about me:
Prince was an owner drop off at a high intake/kill shelter. No reason was given and Prince was so sad. He is a 3 year old Lab mix.

Prince is shy initially and has a humble demeanor. He livens up quickly and has the warmest twinkle in his eye when his tail starts to wag. He is great with other dogs and humans. Prince will thrive most in a quiet atmosphere. He is attentive and loves hugs, which is easy to do as he is so soft and a very sweet dog.

GENERAL VETERINARY CARE:
I have been:
~ spayed/neutered
~ microchipped (usually but not always)
~ dewormed
~ heatworm-tested negative if dog is of age to be tested ( 6 months or older)
~ up to date on all age appropriate shots
~ treated with a flea preventative

Prince has been seen by a Connecticut veterinarian and all medical records will come with the adoption papers as well as notes from Prince's dog handler.

ADOPTION FEES
Adoption fee is $385 and includes all vetting listed above.

Thank you!
