My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

COCO is a 9 year old chocolate spayed female who weighs 55 pounds. She's so excited to find her forever family and be pampered and spoiled as she deserves! She was used as a breeder dog all her life and recently dumped at the shelter to be euthanized because they had no more use for her. This girl is ready for a chance at knowing what a good life should be like. She's friendly and sweet and just wants a place where she can be loved and treated with some kindness. She is gentle on the leash, house broken, crate trained, and loves her foster brothers. Cocoa is a very fast learner. We've been working with her on "sit" and she's picking it right up. Of course she enjoys the treats and ear rubs that follow!! She is good with other dogs. She's approved for kids aged 10 and up.

Update 97/10): Cocoa is doing great! If she's not sleeping or just chilling, she is initiating gentle play with her foster brothers or seeking out her foster parents for some scratches and rubs. You know she's settled and comfortable when she lets out that Lab "groan." Cocoa has learned the "potty spot" in the yard and makes a beeline for that area every time she goes out. She loves to lay in the grass, and just goes with the flow of her foster family as if she's been here for years. Cocoa is a bit shy when meeting new people, but opens up after a few minutes. The crate continues to be a non-issue, and she probably doesn't even need it - she has disturbed nothing in the house when left alone for short periods of time.

Update (6/23): Coco is a sweet, gentle girl that really just goes with the flow. She enjoys being with her dog buddies and humans. She is eating well. Crating her is effortless, but she is barking a bit until she settles down. Coco did scoot out of her crate once when the bottom latch (she's a little girl and shimmied out) was not fastened and she was perfectly behaved in the house.

Update (6/19): Coco's little personality is definitely coming through. She's putting herself right in there with her big brothers for scratches and rubs, is eating her food in one sitting and completely on her own, can manage steps much better, and has learned "sit" for her treats. Her tail wags a lot, and she is very affectionate. Her coat looks shinier, her eyes are brighter, and she continues to get more and more comfortable each day.
