My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SHADOW is a 5 year old black neutered male who weighs 73 pounds. He's a gorgeous boy with a soft coat. He's a gentle boy with a wonderful disposition. He's good around cats and lived with kids. He knows basic commands. He has epilepsy and takes medicine twice a day. Under our vet's supervision, he's been transitioned to a new medicine and has done very well. He hasn't had any seizures while he's been in our care for three weeks. He's approved for kids aged 7+.

Update (7/29): Shadow gets so excited about butt scratches that he can hardly control himself. It is pure ecstasy. He is also quick to rollover for a good belly rub. Shadow will chase balls in the house, particularly if it has a squeaker inside. He enjoys his daily walks, but can be distracted with rabbits, deer, goats, dogs and other critters on our walks. The EZ-Harness helps keep him focused. He likes to play, but if no one will play with him, he will quickly settle. Shadow is a great dog for a family that is willing to share their lives with him and make him an active member of their pack.

Update (7/18): Shadow is very well behaved and has settled nicely into his foster pack. He is aptly named because he is a shadow and is always near his fosters. Shadow has a wonderful soft coat that you just have to snuggle. His eyes are very expressive, especially when he gives you the “look.” There are some house rules that Shadow believes don’t apply to him. In particular, the dogs are not allowed in the living room or the upstairs bedrooms. At night, we would leave him with the other dogs behind the baby gates. In the morning, we would find him sleeping next to our bed. Shadow is now the first dog that we allow to sleep in our bedroom every night. When his fosters arrive home, Shadow greets them from on the other side of the baby gate. He has decided the living room sofa is his day bed. As noted above, Shadow is on medication for seizures. With his new medication, he has not had a seizure in nearly two months. We coat his pills with peanut butter, which he gentle takes from our fingers. Afterwards, he will lick our fingers clean.
