Meet the wonderful Isabella, aka "Izzy".

This girl has quite the story...

Izzy lived in the woods for about a month, surviving on her own every day after being dumped there! While Izzy was in the midst of trees and forested area, there was luckily a woman who lived out there who was nice enough to feed and give water to Izzy. Because a life out there can be scary it took a lot of effort from rescue volunteers to finally catch Izzy, but she is now safe and sound in foster care and learning what it's like to be a beloved family member!

Izzy is now learning how to be a dog, and although a lot of things still scare her, she is improving each and every day. Izzy really benefits from having other dogs to learn from, and she absolutely loves being with them. Another nice dog in her forever home would make Izzy a very happy little lady! She appears to already be potty trained, but could use some help with her basic manners like sit and stay. Izzy also walks wonderfully on the leash! When she is on walks with other dogs she is very confident and extremely happy, but without dogs tends to be a little more shy and weary of her surroundings. She loves to cuddle at your feet, and follow you around the house. She is overall a mellow little lady who just needs some love and care.

Izzy would do best in a home where she gets plenty of attention so she can learn to be a dog, but with someone who is patient and understands that she finds the world to be a little scary. She would love a home with another well behaved dog, and as she has not shown any interest in cats yet she may be okay in a home with a dog savvy feline. Exuberant younger kids may scare Izzy, so a home with older kids or no kids may be best.

If you are interested in adopting Izzy please fill out an application at www.bapbr.org

Please note: Izzy’s adopters will need to be willing and able to sign a BAPBR foster-to-adopt contract for a minimum of 30 days while BAPBR offers training support and final vetting services. Adopter must live in the Portland, Oregon or Vancouver, Washington area.

About Born Again Pit Bull Rescue (BAPBR)

About Our Rescue Group...

"Our mission"

Born Again Pit Bull Rescue (BAPBR) strives to improve the lives of Pit Bull Terriers, advocating for these animals who cannot speak for themselves.

"Who we are"

BAPBR is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization located in Portland, Oregon. We are a family of volunteers dedicated to helping local Pit Bull Terriers and their guardians.

We are funded solely, and supported by, the generosity of individuals and corporations in our community. All of our dogs are located in approved foster homes around the Portland/Vancouver metro area. BAPBR does not have a physical building and does not have set hours of operation.

"What we do"

*We partner with crowded animal welfare agencies to create much needed kennel space for incoming dogs by transferring primarily Pit Bull Terriers out of those facilities and into our foster program

*We network with local shelters to raise awareness about the number of Pit Bull Terriers who are in need of homes

*We set our dogs and their new guardians up for success, matching families with the right canine companion to enjoy a shared lifestyle

*We support our adopters for life by providing on-going support, training, and resources

*We combat pet overpopulation and provide financial assistance for spay/neuter services to local pet guardians through our “Snip Your Pit” (SYP) Program

*We strive to eliminate breed discriminatory legislation and unfair prejudices created through misinformation

*We advocate responsible pet guardianship across all dog breeds in the community, recognizing that it is the only way we will attain equality and compassion for all dogs

*We give back to the community by helping other non-profit organizations achieve their goals

*We educate the public about Pit Bull Terriers in order to change current perceptions

*We support local guardians of Pit Bull Terriers by providing a variety of services to help them care for their beloved pets

Come Meet Our Pets...

All of our dogs are located in approved foster homes around the Portland/Vancouver metro area and sometimes the Salem metro area.

Please note, we are a strictly volunteer-run organization with no paid staff or employees and we do not have a physical building. This means we have full-time jobs with families and dogs of our own to care for. We always aim to respond in a timely manner, but there may sometimes be delays. Please give us at least 48 hours to respond to your emails and inquires.

Our Adoption Process...

Please keep in mind that BAPBR is a relationship-oriented rescue with a deep commitment to supporting our dogs before, during and after the adoption process. Due to the level of support we give our dogs and adopters, normally we do not adopt outside our local Portland/Vancouver area.

Dogs that are "Courtesy Listings" will vary, as they are not BAPBR dogs and sometimes do not have a location restriction.
