Petunia's Story...
Come meet Petunia. She was found discarded on a country road with her sisters when she was tiny. They all were friendly from the start & are growing into elegant Oriental-type kitties with long legs, tail, & bodies. She is a sleek brown tabby with pretty white markings. Born sometime in February, 2014, Petunia is still very happy-go-lucky & playful, inquisitive & loving, athletic & sweet. She loves her toys, but also loves to cuddle in your arms & give kisses. She has been raised with several cats, so should be able to do well with gradual introduction into a house with playful cats. She has been gentle with children she has met. She likely has never seen dogs. Petunia is spayed, current on vaccines, & microchipped. She has been tested for feline leukemia & FIV. Call Bedford Humane Society at 540/586-6100 or go to www.bhsva.org/adoptions-home.htm to fill out an adoption application.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Petunia, a Bedford Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Bedford, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Bedford.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Bedford already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Bedford breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Bedford paves the way for another one to be saved.
