My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Apache is a 2yr old male Boxer mix. He is house trained, crate trained, walks well on a leash. We have tried several harnesses with him for pulling without much success. After consulting with a trainer we tried a pinch collar with great results. Done right he corrects himself with only small corrections from the humans.
In the crate he is anxious and does bark. He no longer has accidents and is crated several hours a day while his foster family is at work.
He needs regular exercise; this is a requirement for his adoption. He has been trained to walk on a treadmill, which we do often when the weather is not favorable. He loves to walk outside and sniff everything. He really loves squirrels!
He is housed with a Chihuahua and several cats; with regular exercise he is well behaved and good with the cats. When he is not he can be destructive and will chase the cats. I cannot stress enough how important exercise is for Apache’s successful adoption.
He is a cuddly boy who loves to be with humans and really responds to praise and rewards. He is very food motivated as well.
He can use more socializing with other dogs especially on meeting new dog buddies as he gets very excited.
With play he also gets over stimulated quickly, this will be something that will need continuous work and training. Exercise before play has helped greatly in this area so far but it will need to continue for best results.
Apache is a very sweet boy that just needs to be given a chance. He has come a long way from the emaciated guy he was to the healthy happy dog he is now. With the right family he will shine even more.
