Dixie's Story...
Meet Dixie! Dixie is a 4 year young Rat Terrier mix. Shy at first but she will quickly warm up to you. Dixie is currently working on her leash manners and some basic command. She loves to cuddle up on the couch with her humans! Dixie gets along well with other dogs and is very social. One of her favorite toys is her ball. If interested in Dixie please contact her consultant Rachael at rpapa@kent.edu and she will make arrangements for you to meet Dixie. Dixie is currently hanging out in our prison foster program
** The adoption fee helps to cover the general veterinarian check-up, heartworm test, spay/neuter, basic vaccinations, rabies vaccination, worming, flea preventative, and microchip that all dogs adopted through Berea ARF receive prior to going into their new home.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dixie, a Berea Rat Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Rat Terrier for sale in Berea, or seeking a Rat Terrier dog from a breeder in Berea.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Berea already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Berea breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Rat Terrier breeders who help with Rat Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Berea paves the way for another one to be saved.
