My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jack is listed as a Courtesy Posting; he is not part of Penny Angels Beagle Rescue. If you would like more information on Jack, please send an e-mail to jen.vogt1@gmail.com or call (516) 818-3461.

This is what Jack’s parents wrote about him: “My wife and I have a loving, fun 12.5 year old, 30 lb. beagle named Jack. I rescued him from an animal shelter almost 7 years ago. We love our dogs so much, but, unfortunately, cannot take them on our move to Australia with us. We are moving back to my wife's home country and we are told Jack is too old for the travel. While he is in perfect condition for his age, being in cargo for that long is too tumultuous for a dog of his age. We are trying to find a loving home for our favorite beagle. We live in Queens and are looking for help from wherever a happy home can be found for our Jack. We need to find him a new home by the first week in August; this is truly the hardest thing we have ever had to do.”

“Jack is such a little male beagle in that he loves food and can sniff it out anywhere, so you might not want to leave food where he can obtain it. He is known for conning people into giving him food by sitting and looking cutely at them. Yet, he is also quite a lover with jumping up on the bed in the morning and giving us a doggie kiss, saying 'Moms' time to take me out'! He is adorable when he puts both his front paws forward and falls back on you for a belly rub. He loves belly rubs!"

“Jack loves his alone time, but also loves slow walks (and expects his cookie when he comes back from a good walk)! He is good at walking on a leash or with a harness. He will go in the car and go for as long a ride as you like, but he does shake as he does so. After a while, he quiets down. If you sit in the backseat with him, he will happily lay on your lap. He is house trained, but not a big fan of the crate.”

“Jack knows when you need a hug and will sit by your side. He is always excited to greet you when you come home! He can play with little pups, but isn't a huge fan of big dogs as his brother, a French bulldog, was attacked by one last year and he is protective of him. He is good with little kids, but dislikes cats. Jack is in great health; his biggest issue is his teeth, but we have taken care of them and he has had all the bad ones pulled. Occasionally, if you don't have a backyard, it is good to take Jack to a park or to someone's house who does have a backyard and just let him run around for a while. He doesn't require much time running around, but does enjoy smelling the flowers. Basically, in a nut shell, Jack is just a great dog to have in your family!!”

If you are interested in Jack and would like to give him a loving home where he can live out the remainder of his senior years, please send an e-mail to jen.vogt1@gmail.com or call (516) 818-3461. Thank you!!
