My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE 9/7/14: Minnie has an adoption pending!

This little bitty girl, Minnie, found one of our rescuers early one morning. She had been hiding out resting under a parked car on a very busy road. She walked painfully because her nails were so overgrown and she was riddled with fleas. Our rescuer took her in, bathed her, and took her to the vet. The vet gave her a clean bill of health despite her state of neglect! She is heartworm negative and has been started on heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention.

Minnie is about a year or two old, and only 4 lbs and due to her tiny size we are seeking a family that will care for her as the fragile little lady she is. Vets believe her to be a purebred chihuahua but we make no guarantees! Minnie is very tentative around other dogs, probably due to her tiny size, but she is learning to come around her foster brothers and sister, albeit slowly. Minnie is housebroken and not destructive. Minnie gets very excited when her foster mom comes home and loves to snuggle with her and nibble her fingers.

Minnie would make a great low-maintenance pet for an older person or retired couple, or a family with older children who know and understand how carefully a 4 lb. dog needs to be handled. Minnie is very well behaved and loves to be petted and talked to, and to sit with you on your lap!

Minnie will be spayed prior to adoption. She has been examined by a vet, has received all her vaccinations, and is very healthy for being out on her own for what appears to be a great while. She has been microchipped as well.

Interested adopters please email MJsAnimalSanctuary@gmail.com for an adoption application. Reference checks, vet reference, home visit, and meet and greet required. Adoption fee applies.
