THIS IS A COURTESY POSTING FOR FRIENDS TO THE FORLORN PITBULL RESCUE OUT OF DALLAS, GA. WWW.SAVINGPITBULLS.ORG
Tonya is a 3 year old female light brown with white pitbull weighing 46 pounds. She was taken in as a stray to Fulton County Animal Control on 3/31/13. She was found with an injured right rear paw. She stayed at animal control from 3/31/13 through 4/16/13. She was set to be euthanized on 4/16/13 and we saved her 2 hours before she was put to sleep.
Tonya was adopted on 12/2/13 and we were notified on 6/23/14 that the family needed to return her. :( The family is a military family and is moving into housing that will not allow a pitbull. Tonya was devestated to loose her family.
Tonya is in need of a new home where she will be the only dog and there are no cats. She will either need to be leash walked or have a 6 foot tall fence. Her injured paw has been treated and she has fully recovered. We believe she was hit by a car and her toes were broken and had already begun healing crooked before we got to her. You can not tell anything is wrong with her now. She is fully weight bearing on it and it does not slow her down at all! She also had kennel cough and mild pneumonia which she has been treated for and has fully recovered from.
Tonya has a high prey drive with birds and squirrels. She can not go to a home with cats, she is overly interested in them. She may do fine with a male dog her size or larger with a dog savy person. She is crate trained and housebroken. She is playful, sweet and affectionate. We believe that she was someone's dog before, as the first thing she did when she got to her foster home was grab a bone and got up on the couch. She loves toys and loves to chew bones. She can climb and get over a 4 foot chain link fence if she wants to - like she sees a squirrel so she will need a home with a 6 foot privacy wood fenced in yard or a family that will leash walk her at all times. We normally do not recommend dogs to families with children 10 and under unless the family and children have positive prior dog experience. This dog has so much love and cuddles to give. She is amazing in person and beautiful.
She is spayed, current on all vaccines, dewormed, microchipped, heartworm negative and started on monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventative. Her adoption fee is $195.00. She can go to a new family for a 2 week trial prior to adoption to ensure that she is a perfect match for your family. She is ready for a start at a new life! Husky Pack Rescue (HPR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit GA licensed rescue volunteer organization that focuses on saving Siberian Huskies and other working dog breeds in North Georgia. Our goal is to educate the community on the responsibilities of owning one of these incredible animals and to help find them loving, forever homes.
Working with committed volunteers, fosters, local veterinarians, trainers, we are able to rescue and rehabilitate huskies along with other working class breeds that desperately need our help. We properly socialize each dog, provide them with loving foster homes, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes.
HPR serves as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.
All dogs brought into our program are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm tested and/or treated as necessary. We stress the importance of these items to help reduce the overpopulation of our shelters with un-wanted, lost and sick animals.
HPR arranges educational and social events which highlight the attributes and needs huskies throughout the year.

Our Adoption Process...
These are all the adoptable dogs that we currently have housed at HPR. All dogs have their own unique personalities, quirks and some times special needs. So it is best to call us directly if you are interested in one of our babies. We can then explain the dog you are interested in completely and you can make an informed decision about adoption. Our adoption fee is $300 and this will cover their spay/neuter, all their shots, heart worm testing, first round of flea medication & heart worm preventative and a micro chip.
