My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Emerson is an adorable red buff sable He weighs about 13 pounds and has a natural tail. He is maybe a year old. This guy is a sweetheart. Friendly, loves to run and play. He discovered cats at his foster home and is trying to figure out how they fit into the universe.
After seeing him in person, we thought he might be a cocker/doxie mix because he is long and low, but the vet who examined him feels like he is purebred cocker. She believes he has achondroplasia or in lay terms a DWARF. The vet says she doesn't see this often, but she has seen it before. Given his low stature and lack of doxie characteristics, it's possible. A suggestion he be named Tyrion was overruled and the name on his vet records became Emerson. The vet also discovered he has a fractured acetabulum. It is part of the pelvis but it is the socket that holds the ball joint of the femur. She could see loose bone pieces. She feels he needs an FHO (femoral head ostectomy). If indeed he needs an FHO, the head and neck of the femur is removed. During healing scar tissue builds up and the hip works like normal. The beauty of this operation is that he will have normal strength and never have arthritis in the joint. We're still evaluating options with this guy.
