Meet Murdo, a beautiful Springer with great facial expressions and cute, curly ears. This April Fool's birthday dog is friendly and energetic and has a great personality. Murdo was relinquished by his owners because he was recently diagnosed with epilepsy. In early June he had a series of seizures, but since being on medication he has been seizure-free. Murdo's medication is affordable, at less than a dollar a day, and is easy to administer as a pill given with each meal.

Murdo loves attention. He is definitely a companion dog. He loves to be near you and lie by your side--he is the perfect foot warmer! He is always so excited to see people, and he loves to be petted either with your hands or your feet. Murdo has a lot of energy and is still a puppy at heart. He bounces up on his front paws when he greets people, but he does not jump on anyone. He is fully housetrained and knows the command Sit. Murdo is a reliable dog that can be left alone in the house while his people are away at work. He does not need to be in a crate.

Murdo is a real communicator! He will let you know with whines and paws at the door when he needs or wants to go outside. Murdo is also a watchful boy who will bark to tell you when he sees a rabbit, another dog, or a person outside. If you live on a street with lots of comings and goings, one way to prevent him from alerting is to make sure that he cannot see the activity.

Murdo also loves to be outside. His previous owners had a huge fenced yard, so Murdo is used to having free rein of the outdoors. Without a fence, he would be off to chase the nearest rabbit or find the closest neighborhood dog to play with. Murdo is great at playing fetch, and he will bring you any ball, bone, or stick he finds so that you can throw it for him. Murdo's foster parents are currently working with him on the command Come and are helping him with his leash manners.

Murdo was previously raised by a loving family with two small children. He is great with kids and with other dogs, big and small. His foster home has an Australian shepherd that he loves to play with. Murdo would be a wonderful companion for any couple or family willing to exercise him and give him the attention and affection he craves. If you think that yours might be just the right Forever Home for this delightful boy, please contact his case managers at the e-mail address below. Murdo is anxious to give you all his love and loyalty!

Please note that an approved adoption application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog's case manager.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Murdo.
