POPS is getting an updated bio since he has been patiently waiting for his forever home and we know him a little better! Pops is a big boy with an even bigger heart. He was rescued from a shelter that was running out of space and his time was up. He spent about a month and half in a shelter environment waiting for his forever family but no one came. We know that Pops has been in and out of shelters for several years. He visited one shelter 4 times as a stray. His negligent owner thought Pops would make a great watch dog…but Pops was pretty persistent about being around people and not being left alone. Pops managed to pass his temperament test every time he visited the shelter and his owner came to reclaim him each time. However, after the fourth visit to the shelter they decided to sign over custody of Pops to the shelter. This big guy is now safe in foster home. He is around 75 pounds and 5-6 years old. He currently lives with 4 other dogs ranging from 25-55 pounds and doesn’t seem to care about any of them. He is very appropriate with other dogs. He also lives with 3 young boys and is extremely tolerant of them and everything they do to him. He wants nothing more than to be part of the family and included with what is going on. He will push his way into being part of the family. If a little one is laying on the floor Pops will inset himself as the pillow. He thrives when he is allowed to be around people freely. He will follow you around all day long. If he could help fold the laundry I’m pretty sure he would. He does have one loud flaw…If you crate him while you are home he will bark A LOT! Or if you are outside and you keep him inside he will also bark. Or if he sees another dog and is not allowed to touch it, he will bark. He is persistent about being included in whatever is going on in the house. But if he is free roaming he is quiet and content to be in the same room as his little humans. He used to sleep in his crate at night quietly. Within the last month Pops has earned the freedom to be out of the crate all night long. He sleeps in bed with his foster family and doesn’t bother anyone or anything. He is content to stay comfy in bed until you finish your morning routine and are ready to put him outside…honestly, sometime you have to physically pull him out bed to get him going. He is neutered, up to date with vaccinations and micro-chipped. He is heart worm negative and is on heart-worm preventative as well as flea/tick preventative. If you are looking for a big guy that thinks he is your shadow you may have just met your new best friend! He is a special boy that deserves one family that will love him forever and make him part of the family…not the guard dog.
