Lucy's Story...
Seven month old Lucy is a border collie x Sheltie mix, a lovely red and white girl. She and her two brothers were being sold at a flea market, and we felt we could do a better job of finding them proper homes ( her siblings are Noah and Colby.)
Lucy and company had likely been yard dogs, tied up outside with little attention and socialization from humans. She was initially very shy, fearful of the inside of the house, and uncomfortable having her collar handled, let alone being leashed. She was confused by toys in the beginning, especially squeaky ones which made her jump back in fear, but now embraces all toys, all things made for legal chewing. If no one is available to play with her, she tosses toys and balls and pounces on them all by herself. Her favorite toy is a plush alligator with multiple squeakers, and she prefers to nap on top of it so that no one else can enjoy its favors. She has a hearty appetite, has been comfortable with the crate concept from the beginning, and currently is working on her house-training and leash skills. Being leashed may remind her of being tied out, because she gets panicky at any pressure on the leash. We are working on this with lots of chicken and hot dogs.
She is a bouncy, friendly pup, not much of a barker, sleeps like a log, and is very dear. She will need a soft-voiced human with patience, while she learns to trust. It took a few days for her to easily come when called, but she is still unsure about humans upright, and feels much more comfortable with them seated. You will bond quickly with her as she senses your willingness to let her set the pace of the relationship, and be rewarded with a lifelong friend.
