Saul's Story...
Saul is one of those nice dogs that you can't believe ended up at the animal shelter! He was already neutered when he was picked up as a stray (a rarity among strays) and has clearly been well-socialized in the past. Perhaps he was a victim of another foreclosure? Whatever the case, Saul is a good boy and he'll be a great addition to someone's home. He walks very well on leash (loves to sniff about) and is very receptive to praise. He has had some training it appears as he will sit quickly for treats.

Saul does love to meet new people and will get a bit jumpy when someone new is introduced but he is easily corrected for that behavior. He will roll over on his back for bellyrubs and has no handling problems. He loves the attention. We haven't tested him with other dogs yet but he seems to be friendly and interested in the canines he sees in the park. Good boy! We're not entirely sure what Saul's mix of breeds is. Lab with some Shepherd, maybe Pointer or Rottweiler? Whatever it is, he's quite handsome. Come meet this shiny black pooch with the four white socks!

Act quickly to adopt Saul. Pets at this Shelter may be held for only a short time.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Saul, a Berkeley Labrador Retriever puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Berkeley, or seeking a Labrador Retriever puppy from a breeder in Berkeley.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Berkeley already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Berkeley breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Berkeley paves the way for another one to be saved.
