Some day perhaps Animatch and other rescues will no longer have sad stories to tell of unwanted and neglected dogs. However, that day is not here yet! Meet Key West, a five-year-old, Lab mix who can best be described as a survivor. She is another unclaimed stray from the pound and it didn’t take Animatch long to discover why she was abandoned. On arrival, Key West was limping and x-rays revealed that she had a torn cruciate ligament. Dr. Plasse, our amazing Vet, has already performed the surgery and we are expecting that Key West regains full mobility. She may not be in the Doggy Olympics but she will definitely have a good life. For the next few weeks, Key West should have light exercise (no running or jumping) and then she will eventually be able to go for long walks, etc. It will be important for Key West’s guardian to ensure that she maintains a healthy weight; carrying extra pounds is hard on any dog’s joints and ligaments. Key West loves other dogs and she has never met a stranger – a typical, sociable Lab. This girl would love to continue her recuperation in her very own home. Would it be yours? Thanks to the support of everyone who has donated to Animatch, we can help dogs like Key West. Recently our funds have been drastically depleted because so many of our adoptees have need hospitalization and emergency medical attention. In order to continue to help other dogs have the same chance as Key West, Animatch must replenish our emergency fun.
