My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Heather is an intelligent girl who learns quickly. She is a young girl approximately a year old. She is very affectionate and a fun loving companion. She loves everyone and enjoys going for walks. She will
need some finishing touches with her training but she is a young dog and coming along nicely. She has a great personality and beautiful brindled markings. She loves lying about on the couch or outside on
the lawn. Heather currently weighs 45 lbs.

Here is what else Heather's foster family had to say:

Heather is a very social dog and tries to make friends with everyone she meets. She is good even with very young children. When meeting children she sits very nicely and allows the children to pet her. She might not do well with cats as I suspect she would either chase them or try to play with them. She would like to chase squirrels. She would do well with another friendly young dog in the home to play with.

She is well behaved and calm in the home as long as she has enough exercise. She knows her basic commands such as “sit”, “down”, “drop it”, “leave it”, “come”, “no” and “off”. She does not try to steal
food. Heather is very quiet in the home. She only barks and whines when initially left alone but does eventually settle. Even on walks she is very quiet and only whines when she is not allowed to chase a
squirrel. She does not whine or bark at other dogs or people. Heather is leash trained. She will sit still for her leash to be put on. She will remain seated in order for the door to open. She does not pull, and will sit down when told to stop. She will pull when she sees a squirrel, but will not continue with a tug of the leash. We are currently trying to desensitize her to squirrels, so we will just continue walking with quick tugs on the leash to signal Heather to follow. If she falls behind, she will catch up when told to “come”.

Heather is not yet crate trained. We are working on letting her go in and out of the crate on her own, but she does not feel safe alone there yet. She has not been left alone for more than an hour or two and does whine when left alone. Heather is very good in the car. She will jump in the car after being commanded. She likes looking out the window, but will also lay down in the back seat.

Heather loves going for walks and is a curious pup taking in all the new sights and sounds. She is an awesome hiking buddy and has tremendous endurance. When we get home however, she is perfectly
content to cuddle up on the couch. She is adorable when she sleeps. She snores and can be moved in any position and will not care. Heather is not fearful of anything in particular. On the first few walks she
did not like passing trucks and buses, but has since become desensitized to them.

Heather would do well in an active home with other dogs and maybe cats. She would do well with another dog similar in size and energy. It would be ideal for her to have a backyard to run around and play in, but she will also need to be taken on at least one long walk a day. A family with older children, younger couple, or an active person who could put in the time with her would best. She could be a great family dog with people that were willing to continue her training and give her the exercise she needs.

If you feel that Heather would be a good fit for your situation, please submit an application for consideration.
