My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

When Heather's rescuer (Heather was saved from a very high-kill Texas shelter) walked this gorgeous and oh- so- gentle girl down the trail, she was stopped over and over by other walkers inquiring, What kind of dog is that? and... Oh my, she has the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen! It's true...Heather is a stunning mix of a miniature Poodle and a Wheaten Terrier... extremely eye-catching and so very sweet!. When she turns that SO gentle look in your direction, you can't help but be mesmerized by her wise and soulful look. It speaks of a difficult time for such a young pup...Heather is only about 14 months old and weighs approximately 22 lbs. But, fortunately, it's clear that she has left the pain behind...she couldn't be more gentle and confident. Heather approaches life with a wisdom that seems to always light her way. Farfel's Rescue is searching for either retirees or a family with children 12+ for Heather. It's not that she doesn't like young kids...we just feel she'll be happier in a calmer environment. An active retired couple or individual would make Heather very happy. She would thrive on the time and attention...and at the end of the day, would like nothing better than to cuddle up and be the most loving lap dog ever. Heather is also so loyal and kind that it makes her very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. She's a perfect size to enjoy hiking beautiful trails and paths in the sunshine. She's also small enough to be very portable for car trips and errands around the city...truly a full-time companion! Heather would also enjoy time with dogs who could be gentle playmates. When you're only 22 lbs, even a very well-adjusted pup can be intimidated by very rambunctious dogs.
Heather has the most gorgeous Poodle-type, hypoallergenic coat. It's currently matted and shelter-dirty. Our rescuer will give Heather a bath (we'll update with clean/brushed photos just as soon as we receive them) but a true professional grooming, coat conditioning and pedicure will have to take place when Heather arrives in Denver - Farfel's will be happy to cover the cost of this, Once groomed and given high-quality nutrition, Heather will grow a healthy, cotton-soft coat that speaks of the texture of the Poodle and has the fawn streaks of a Wheaten. Heather's adopter will need to be willing to commit to this periodic grooming regiment.
Heather is arriving on transport in Denver in mid-July. Applications are currently being accepted for this beautiful and very loving companion.
