My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I'm PHOENIX and I am neither a city in Arizona, nor a being rising from the ashes. I am just a little 3 year old, 15 lb double dapple dachshund. One really cool thing about me is that I have one eye that is half blue (I have actually have TWO eyes though). I know that one of the volunteers normally writes stories about the doxies up for adoption, but I wanted to tell you about myself, because who knows me better than me? So, here is my story, sad but true, I have had a bit of a rough time the past few years. I was sick as a puppy and my mom couldn't keep me so a friend helped me get better and found another family for me to live with. Unfortunately, things didn't work out there and I was afraid...alot. SO, my same friend came back and got me and found out about ODR, Inc. and they have been so nice that I have decided to stay with them while they help me find a new forever family. I'm a loving doxie...love sitting in my family's lap and kissing them and when I get excited, I like to dance. I'm cute, I like to play outside. I am trained to walk on a leash and I love going for rides in the car. I also get along well with other dogs and cats. Now you know a little about me. How about telling me a little about you?

NOTE FROM ODR, INC: PHOENIX is a very special Doxie and definitely very loving. His friend has confirmed his story and shared that when he gets afraid, Phoenix will cower and urinate. He needs a truly forever family that will show him unconditional love and affection with patience.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give PHOENIX a happy, carefree life? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net - the adoption committee will be in touch with you within 48 hours so please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
