My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

HARLEY is a 3 year old shep/lab mix male who weighs 72 pounds. He came to us with his best pal, Nemo. Harley and Nemo are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. Harley and Nemo are settling in just fine. They both figured out the doggie door very easily and are housebroken. They keep each other in sight at all times and some close to share kisses often, but are getting along great with the resident dogs as well. Nemo enjoys laying on the hearth, Harley chooses to be at someone feet even if it means being in a pile with all the others. Nemo is very timid and unsure of herself and needs to gain some confidence. She is better when Harley is around and is more timid around males it seems so we will continue working with that. She hid behind furniture at first but is not doing that anymore and has actually managed to lay some sloppy kisses on Raven. She is definitely unsure of new situations and we will be working on some confidence building. Harley on the other hand is a social butterfly, always right in the middle of everything. They are approved for kids aged 10+.

Update (8/24): Foster Mom took me with her to feed the horses and clean the barn today. She said I was nicer to the horses than they are to each other. She was also impressed that, unlike the resident dogs, I only sniffed the horse poop instead of rolling in it or eating it. I wanted to follow her when she went to the donkey barn, but she told me to stay; thinking she really needed my help, I tried to follow her- until one, then two, then three donkeys surrounded me and moved in for the kill. I sneaked away real fast and waited for FM right where she had told me to stay. I met one of the barn cats too- we sniffed each other for a while but then, a while later, she got up and ran; I thought she wanted me to chase her, but FM didn’t and told me to stop so I went back and laid down. I will say that while horse chow tastes pretty good, their cookies are terrible!

Update (8/07): Harley may not look entirely Lab, but this three year old neutered boy licks like a lab, leans like a lab and loves tennis balls like a lab. He lays his ball so gently in your hand (or lap if you ignore him) and waits for the next throw. If you don’t throw it, he’ll take it back and drop it on the stairs so it bounces. During those rare times when his mouth is empty, we’ll tell him to go get his ball and he will go retrieve one- or a close facsimile if he can’t find one right away. He has gotten much better on a leash with practice. One happy guy! (Note the tail that is just a blur!)
