My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rowdy is a young, energetic, playful and loving young boy. He enjoys playing with the other dogs in his foster home, going for walks and snuggles with his family. He would do well with further training and socialization but is coming along nicely. He would be an excellent candidate for obedience classes as he is intelligent and eager to please. Rowdy is still very much a puppy at approximately 8 – 9 months old and currently weighs 36 lbs.

Here is what his foster family had to say:

Rowdy is a very loving boy and enjoys being with his people. He is still very much a puppy and has that puppy clumsiness about him still and has lots of energy at times and then crashes, like a baby. He is fine with other dogs, cats and people but with all he needs additional training and socialization like any puppy. He is not shy of anyone and doesn’t appear to have any fears around anything. He just wants to play, get lots of pets from his family, and be happy.

Rowdy has been pretty well mannered in the home and as we are here a lot, we haven’t used a crate with him. He is coming along nicely with house training but we put him out often. He is quiet in the home and only really barks when someone knocks on the door. We have given him lots of toys to chew on as he does appear to be teething and he is very good about only chewing his own toys. I think if you were not able to be home and supervise him, Rowdy should be trained to go in a crate until he can be fully trusted in the home – like any pup.

Rowdy now knows sit and we are working on other basic commands. He is getting really good on the leash and is learning to signal us that he needs to go out. He would be an excellent running/jogging partner for someone. He would do well in a home with another friendly dog or older children that would like to play with him and take him for walks.

Rowdy is a sweet, loving boy that needs someone that is willing to help him become a respected family member. He will need regular exercise and a back yard to play in would be great. Rowdy is a young dog that will need supervision and continued training so you must be prepared, ready and willing to take on a puppy. Rowdy will give 100% back in love and loyalty.

If you think Rowdy would be a good choice for your family, please submit an application for consideration.

Come meet Rowdy this weekend at Pet Valu’s National Adoptathon Weekend, 1 Wilson Street, Hamilton.
