Molly's Story...
Molly is a senior bassador with the best disposition :)

Molly is the sweetest little old lady. She is a bassador, a "designer" breed that is used as guide dog in the North of the USA.

Molly would be the ideal dog for someone who wants a loyal, faithful companion but does not wish to exercise a dog much. Molly LOVES to go outside and lie in the sun, she also loves car rides and going places, but she does not have the energy a puppy would have, so she can't go jogging with you. Basically, Molly would love to accompany you on short walks, trips to the beach or parks where she can just lie in the sun and enjoy life while you read a book, and she would love a soft bed next to yours because she can't jump up into yours anymore.
Molly has crooked feet that she was likely born with and she has scoliosis - abnormal curving of the spine. She has been put on (mild) pain meds and anti-inflammatories as well as a very nutritious, senior-appropriate diet, and she seems happy and even runs! She seems to be hard of hearing and her eye-sight is no longer the best, but she makes up for it with her sweet, loyal, loving attitude.
Molly is spayed, up to date on her shots, 100% potty trained - she will NOT go in the house, no matter what! (This old lady is definitely not incontinent - she can hold it forever!) and she his heartworm negative.
She just had a dental and her teeth are sparkling now!

Her foster mom says about her:
Molly's legs are too short for her to jump on the couch/bed, so she would need a blanket or dog bed on the floor. She is always happy, friendly, smiling, and content. She is the easiest dog I've ever had. 100% housebroken, quiet, doesn't need much exercise, doesn't bark when someone knocks (because she is half deaf - will only get started when the other dogs go off), loves people, doesn't care about other dogs too much, seems to like EVERYBODY...... I could go on and on. She's perfect except she is old and might at some point need more meds for pain or her scoliosis or get cancer or whatnot. And her mass might grow larger and will have to be removed if it keeps her from lying down comfortably, but for now she is just fine and happy and just such a sweet, cool, low-maintenance dog. All you would have to do is let her waddle out into the yard 3 - 4 times a day for 15 min sunbathing and potty breaks. And feed her once a day (or twice). That's IT!

Molly does like to go on trips, though, if I put the leashes on the other dogs, she will also get excited and she will want to go. But since she can't go on 4 mile runs, I take her out with the others (like, up the street once and then back, or to the 'lake' in the neighborhood), I let her lie in the grass for a while and watch the birds, and then I'll take her back in. She could maybe walk close to a mile, but that would push it. She does love walks though. She LOVES to go out and about. She loves car rides but has a hard time getting in the car. She puts her front paws in and I help by lifting up her butt. She is a sweetheart. She will climb on the back seat (no idea how she manages to get up there!!!!) and then try to stick her head between the driver's seat and the passenger's seat and look out between Brandon and me to see where we are going. She LOVES car rides! And she loves the beach. She really loves life. She's a great dog. Perfect for someone who doesn't have the time to exercise a dog because she doesn't mind staying home sleeping while you're at work (or while I'm gone). And then she's happy when you come back. She doesn't bark or cry or destroy anything - but everybody wants a YOUNG dog, so she hasn't had any interest :(

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Molly, a Riverview Labrador Retriever/Basset Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Basset Hound for sale in Riverview, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Basset Hound dog from a breeder in Riverview.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Riverview already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Riverview breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Basset Hound breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Riverview paves the way for another one to be saved.
