Eli's Story...
Eli and his brothers were rescued when they were approximately 8 weeks old. The first few days Eli was not sure about his new human friends, but he was quick to come around. Eli’s favorite trick for attention is to head butt you until you give in, hold him and love him. If you try to leave without giving him enough attention he will come “hug” your leg for more. Eli’s favorite toy is his brother Smokey. These two are so much fun to watch as they play and chase and play some more. When Smokey isn’t around, Eli loves to play with the mouse toy. Will you adopt Eli and let him entertain you with his playful spirit?
Are you interested in adopting Eli or another JCAPL pet you have seen? You'll need to start by completing an adoption application, available online at our website: www.jcapl.org. There is no obligation to adopt by completing an application, however, we do recommend submitting an application as soon as you find an animal you are interested in. We review applications in the order they are received.

Completed applications can be sent via email to adopt@jcapl.org , faxed to 919-300-5524 or delivered in person by visiting us at one of our adoption events on Saturdays at PetSmart in Garner (White Oak Shopping Center) or at Petsmart in Smithfield.

We will contact you as soon as possible once we receive your application for Eli.

Thanks for thinking adoption!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Eli, a Smithfield Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Smithfield, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Smithfield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Smithfield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Smithfield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Smithfield paves the way for another one to be saved.
