Betina is a 10 month-old, 8-9 lb. Italian Greyhound mix rescued from the Baldwin Park Animal Shelter. She is a very pretty dog who has the coloring and appearance of a Shepherd dog, but in mini version. In fact, Betina and Neo are littermates (they do not need to be adopted together). We believe that both dogs are “Greyhuahuas” the hybrid designer dog: Italian Greyhound/ Chihuahua mix.

Betina really relishes in human company and love. Although she has fared well when left alone, nothing makes her happier than following you around the house or greeting you with endless kisses when you walk in the door! That is, of course, unless she has a fur sibling to play with! She will often get very excited when seeing any dog while out on a walk and give a quick bark and try running their way. In seconds, she will be playing with, running around, and rolling in the grass with energy for her new playmate. She would certainly do well with other dogs of any size and is not the least bit intimidated or too delicate to hang with the big dogs, as long as they are friendly to her. She likes toys, but a playmate or human companion would be her preference. Betina can really be the perfect companion as someone's fur mate or a great little friend to a doggy sibling.

Betina is really good about sitting by your side, whether it is on the couch watching T.V., or on a pet bed while you are at a desk doing work. She will always want to be in the same room that you are in (or following her other dogs around to play), but seems to be a smart cookie when it comes to learning new boundaries. She wants to make her humans happy, so training is easy and she just wants a fun fur friend if there happens to already be one in the home. She is versatile, in that she could easily be an only dog for someone who can give her all that attention, or she can follow the dogs already in the home.

Betina has lived at the rescue’s main location where there is a larger pack of both small and large dogs. She is excited to go on walks and is very obedient on her leash, but it is best to use a small harness for safety purposes when walking her. She has truly excelled when taking her out on a longer hike. Her longer legs are very conducive for some hiking too! Betina eats well but prefers her kibble mixed with wet food. She also likes her daily rawhide chew. Betina eats her meals in the crate, and she also sleeps in her wire crate at night. She would love to sleep loose with her humans, but at the rescue, we use crates.

Even though Betina is still technically a puppy, she has many qualities of an older dog. She is completely potty-trained, whether she has a yard or a condo with a dog door, or no access until you walk her. (However, it should be noted that potty reinforcement is needed in any new environment.) She also does not require a huge amount of exercise or play time, but because she is young, she can keep up if that is what you like. Betina is so ready to please her new family, she can pretty much fit into any routine. As long as she is getting lots of love and attention, she will be whatever kind of dog you want her to be. You just have to be prepared to get lots of kisses! Betina is spayed, vaccinated, including rabies, de-wormed and micro-chipped.

The best fit for Betina is a home with another dog, either large or small, boy or girl, who will embrace her and be her pal, and, where people are not gone for long, extended hours on a daily basis. If you are interested in Betina, please contact Janet Cook of the Angels Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com . The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. There is no need to phone the rescue until you have first submitted an interest via e-mail.
