My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I am a 6-month-old female Dachshund mix. I weigh about 17 pounds. My story starts off a little sad. I used to live on the streets in Ensenada, Mexico. My days were spent scavenging for food and trying not to get run over or attacked. It was a very rough time for me. I was underweight, nervous, and sad. There was a drain cover in the street that I used to sleep curled up on. Lucky for me though, I was picked up by a very nice woman that takes in strays. She brought me home and kept me safe while she tried to find a rescue group that would take me. That's when CageFree stepped in and agreed to let me be part of their pack. I couldn't have been happier! Myself and a few friends of mine made the long drive up to West LA. When I got to CageFree I had to be isolated for a few days to be sure that I wasn't sick. The staff fell in love with me and spent a lot of time hanging out in Isolation. That's when they noticed that my friends and I were covered in ticks. Unfortunately, I was infested the worst. There were ticks in the folds of my ears, in between my toes, and all over my back. Some so small that you could hardly see them. I was being eaten alive! My human companions spent a half hour that day picking the ticks off. The whole time I was giving them kisses. I was so thankful to have someone care for me. Once I was cleared of all the ticks and the staff was sure that I was not sick, I was able to join the rest of the group. It was great getting to know all the dogs that live here. Needless to say, I am totally dog friendly, and I happened to really love people, too. One of the staff members invited me over for a sleepover and I spent the entire night snuggling up to her and her dog. It was so much fun! I felt like the luckiest pup around! Did I mention yet that I love kids, too? I met a family the other day that had two very young daughters. I walked straight up to them and gave them kisses all over. I'm sure that I would make a great family dog. Surprisingly, I'm not possessive of my food or my toys. I'm just happy to have someone near me. I'm still pretty young so I'm looking for an active family that will shower me with love and attention. I've heard about these things called dog parks. Have you been to one? I think I would enjoy visiting a few to see what they are all about. One other thing you should know about me, I really love toys. If you have those, you're alright in my book. I don't want to brag, but think I am quite the catch. If you agree, please don't hesitate to contact CageFree to set up a time to meet me. I can't wait to start my new life!
