My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Akita/Lab mix, male, 8 years old. Blaze looks imposing with his black fur and muscular build, but he is a big teddy bear through and through - and his nickname is Buppy! This dog loves to give kisses, snuggle, and follow his person around, he does not care who knows it. Blaze is confident in who he is, and knows that people love him for him, he has no need to put on a tough front. He is a low drama kind of fellow, and if other dogs kick up a fuss he feels no need to get involved, and when things get loud he is not fazed. Blaze knows how to chill, even in a busy household. He has lived with two bouncy female dogs most recently, and is used to frequently visiting grandchildren of all ages who think he is a pony. Blaze also has excellent house manners, does not need a crate and is house trained. Blaze knows basic commands and loves to show off his sit, down and high five skills! Recall is not his thing though, he does not always come when called - there are too many fun things to sniff and places to explore in the world! Because of his escape artist tendencies he will need a secure yard, or to be leash walked only. But luckily Blaze loves walks and always knows where his leash is, and sometimes brings it to you if you ask! Blaze has lived with cats and thinks they are a lot of fun, but his enthusiastic greeting may overwhelm some cats, so, his ability to live with cats will depend on the cat and their dynamics.

Note: visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
