Jackson is a wonderful, happy, playful, charming and endearing two-year-old Corgi/Border Collie/Terrier mix who was passed over by several rescues due to his medical condition, but eventually saved by Angel’s Heart. Fortunately, it was a fixable medical condition but very costly. Jackson had a broken jaw. Whether Jackson was kicked, or hit by a car, no one will ever know. But when many of the other dogs at the Moreno Valley Shelter were getting saved by rescues, Jackson kept sitting there, waiting. But March 26th was Jackson’s lucky day. So now, after a top orthopedic surgical repair (and aftercare) totaling $3,000.00, three and a half months later, Jackson is now fully healed and ready to find his forever home. (The amount that was needed to repair Jackson’s broken jaw does not affect the adoption fee.) We are now looking for a special home for our dear, sweet Jackson, a home with a yard for Jackson to play in and explore, and another dog to be Jackson’s playmate (no cats please!). Jackson can be very quiet and can chill for hours, but he also relishes in the joys of running around the yard, chasing rabbits and squirrels and looking for lizards, as well as tousling, chasing, and running around with other dogs! (However, Jackson must be an indoor dog.)

Jackson weighs about 23 lbs., a great size. He is quite potty-trained (however potty reinforcement is needed in any new environment). Any boy dog may try to mark a few times in a new place. Remind him of his manners. Jackson is a sensitive little dude and you do not have to do much more than show a little displeasure and he will submit to you and fly right. When he is not playing or exploring, he likes to find a little chair to lie under and be quiet for hours. Feeding time? Oh, that is when Jackson starts doing his little happy dance. It is very cute and always brings a smile to my face. He knows language well and when I say, “Let’s eat,” he comes, running, tongue flapping in the wind.

Jackson has lived at the rescue’s main location but is now in a foster home with two other boy dogs. He is fine with all dogs, big, small, male, and female. Sometimes, he is a play growler, but this is his norm; he is not being aggressive. If his play growling gets to be too much, I yell at him to tone it down. Fortunately, for Jackson, he minds. He is learning to walk better on the leash at his foster home (using the proper tools) and learning how to actually sit right, instead of flipping on his back, being cute. Being a herding dog, Jackson can also sometimes be “mouthy” but again, this is not aggression. If you have ever had a Corgi, or another type of herding dog, you understand that this is communication for this breed type. Fortunately, Jackson’s mouth is light and the behavior is not over the top. Again, a gentle reminder does the trick.

The great thing about Jackson is that he is a wonderful balance of being chill and loving life in a big way. He still tends to jump up on you when he gets super happy about something that he wants to share with you (like loving you and kissing you) but overall, there are no “issues” with Jackson. There is nothing about him of any real concern to any adopter. Jackson is also crate-trained and is always quiet in his crate. He sleeps quietly in his crate throughout the night, not making one sound. He very much enjoys his nightly rawhide chew as a bedtime snack! He is neutered, de-wormed, vaccinated including rabies, fully vetted, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in Jackson, please contact Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. There is no need to phone the rescue until you have first submitted an interest via e-mail.
