My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dora was found as a stray with puppies and she has weaned her pups and is ready for a home of her own. She is a gentle girl, probably only about two years old, and it seems she is new to the finer things in life that most family pets enjoy.

She seems to have been a bit neglected in the past and does not expect much from people. We want to change her mind about that and show her how wonderful people can be! Already she is very much appreciating tasty and regular food and she thinks a soft dog bed is really fabulous. She does not seem to understand the concept of playing with toys yet but shows signs that she might as she feels more secure.

She is feeling a little uncertain with all the changes in her life, but she is friendly, appreciative, and cooperative and she gets along well with all the people and dogs here at the rescue. She is not quite ready for people to overwhelm her with hugs and affection; she will need a gentle family who will not be too pushy as she learns that she deserves all the love her family wants to give her.

Dora is good on a leash and has moderate energy levels so she should be easy to live with. She will do best in a home with a fenced yard so that she will not be tempted to roam before she understands the concept of belonging to a family in a loving home.

Dora has a beautiful gaze and great eye contact and should certainly blossom with the right family who will teach her all about the fun things in life. Survival she is good at; now she needs to learn to have fun and to experience the joy of being loved!

Her fur is currently stained yellow, probably from living with backyard dirt as a bed, but with a little time and regular grooming, she will have a splendid, soft white coat with the sweetest little polka dots (ticking).
