BITSY's Story...
Bitsy got her name from being such an "itsy-bitsy" puppy when she arrived. She was probably 4 weeks old when she arrived at our rescue. Very tiny and so afraid having been thrown out on her own at such a young age. She was so very thin and showing signs of malnourishment. It is amazing what a little TLC will do. She is filling out and gaining weight each week. Her short, stubby black coat is getting longer and shinier. She is a puppy through and through. She loves her chew toys---and fingers. She is not destructive on furniture or shoes, but she loves to chew on your toes and fingers sometimes mistaking them for chew treats. She gets along great with all of my six dogs and has especially identified with my chocolate Lab, Molly. She is actually smaller in size than our cat, Cheddar, and is always trying to play with Cheddar anytime he is around. She sleeps at night in her crate and most nights will sleep through the night. We are working on house training her and it is a work in progress. But we make strides each day. She is very sweet and affectionate and loves for you to snuggle her. She is also very playful and is typical puppy.
Bitsy is approx 10 weeks old and weighs a mere 7 lbs currently. Bitsy will be spayed and complete vaccines by the last week in July and would be ready to head to her new home by the first week in August.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

BITSY, a Leland Labrador Retriever puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Leland, or seeking a Labrador Retriever puppy from a breeder in Leland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Leland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Leland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Leland paves the way for another one to be saved.
